A little about what I do ...

ALTERNATIVE & HOLISTIC HEALTH SERVICE

Creative Expression for Healing and Wellbeing

ART THERAPY uses art media as a mode of externally expressing and communicating inwardly held emotions.  It's a modality for self understanding emotions, change and personal growth.  Art Therapy is not an art lesson, you 100% do not require any skills here.  We all have the ability to make a mark, and that's all the skill that's required. Art Therapy is about the creative process.

YOGA as THERAPY builds character, it helps you face fears and challenges that extend beyond your comfort zone.  It supports bringing the mind, body and soul/spirit into alignment.

Lets talks a little about GRIEF and TRAUMA:  grief is a natural response to a loss of something we value.  it can be big or small ie loss of a relationship, loved one, health, job, safety/security. Trauma occurs when we have a distressingly overwhelming experience, with intense pain, stress, fear or helplessness.  It's the result of an event (grief) that causes a person to push beyond their usual ability to cope.  There can be trauma attached to your present grief that stems back to your childhood.  As a child we experience events that affect us emotionally and physically.  Not all lead to trauma, but occasionally ordinary events may appears overwhelming and frightening.  Sometimes the impact is buried and it can take years to manifest.  As adults, we are strongly influenced by these experiences.  The more stressful event or risk factors in a persons life, the greater the chance they'll be traumatised (or triggered) by future grief.

I specialise in TRAUMA and GRIEF

I use Art Therapy and Yoga to facilitate creative group therapy workshops and individual sessions.

My aim is to hold space for you while you awaken your inner healer, so that you may heal yourself through the guidance of Art Therapy and Yoga.

My Story

I'm a qualified Art Therapist, Transpersonal Counsellor, Yoga Teacher (and Emergency Nurse)

I'm passionate about supporting people through their journey of healing past and present grief/trauma/wounds.

I believe a healers tool is her biggest wound.

My childhood was traumatic, I lived the best years of my life unaware of the result of childhood grief.  It took 9 years to work through the trauma I'd experienced as a child. In that time I learnt a lot about myself, my patterns of survival, how my trauma impacted family and friends around me, and how generations of trauma can be passed on through the womb. I meet a lot of amazing healers on my journey and have grown because of their wonderful guidance.

I also work as an emergency nurse and found myself becoming frustrated with presentations into ED. I found western medicine just wasn't enough to help people overcome many ailments, so I studied to be an Art Therapist. I'm an artist and have always painting my emotions, so it was the perfect profession for me to delve into. My art has always helped me see things in a different perspective. As a child I found I would get lost in art activities, finding it difficult to communicate how I was feeling.

“I met Amanda at the Emotions in Motion retreat she was co-facilitating in Bali, and I am forever grateful that I did. The art therapy sessions she ran were amazing - she has a sixth sense about how to get you to delve just that little bit deeper into discovering more insights about yourself through the art activities. Amanda has a beautiful soul and genuinely wants to help you on your journey of healing and self-discovery. She is empathetic, intuitive and truly understands the psychology involved. I highly recommend her services and only wish we didn't live at opposite ends of the state! I would love to have the opportunity to do further art therapy sessions with Amanda”   Rachelle T
“Amanda and I met when we were both on a retreat in Bali and I am so pleased that we did. When we decided to run Emotions in Motion together I had an idea that art therapy would be relaxing and nourishing, but had no idea how deep it would allow us all to go into past hurts and traumas- thoroughly beginning the process of healing from within: my life is being transformed in so many ways from this journey I’ve started!”.
